week 2 Reflection

My learners have been practising past papers  to gain endorsements in the  external examinations. I am working on Achievement/Merit questions only in class as the majority of the learners working at this level and am working Excellence level during after school/Saturdays.

We had our Student Achievement conference last week, I found this event very useful to meet the parents face to face  to discuss  their progress. I  caught up with 11 parents which is very impressive to move forward.

Here is their progress. My learners found workspace(1.3 tables and graphs & 1.6 Geometrical reasoning), video lessons and online learning to catch up with the missing lesson as well as rewind learning.

Only five  more lessons left therefore my challenge is how consolidate the important facts , how to study fast and maintain the growth mindset until the examinations. I strongly believe that good planning and hard work leads to success.

Exam tips to my learners:

  • Take regular short breaks.
  • Reward yourself.
  • Do something physical.
  • Find a revision style that suits you.
  • Customise your notes to make them more personal.
  • Make sure you understand everything.
  • Study classes options.

Trem 4 plan

Here is the year planner. This term my main focus is preparing for external as the examination on the November 10th (9 school days left from tomorrow) .

This term, I have divided them into three groups. The first group will be  sitting for two externals, the second group is working on externals and the third is an internal focus group. Since the time very short I have decided to focus on 1.3 Tables and Graphs external in class, 1.6 Geometrical reasoning externals online after school and internals who have missed/catch ups after the examinations if needed.

Daily  monitoring will be continued as the time is crucial and  the count down indicated on the board to complete their task on time.

Hybrid learning highlights

Last term we had hybrid learning on Mondays it allow teachers to create exciting interdisciplinary lessons that expose students to a variety of learning modalities. I found Dochub very useful ,no need to install software, just go to DocHub, and sign up instantly and for free.

Holiday program/Term3 Reflection

Last week my learners attended school from Monday to Friday to work towards their exams and internals.

Here is the progress of those who attended the holiday study classes. They managed to bring me any

doubts they had regarding content and completed their internals.

Here is the final update for the term.

Internal credits: There are 27 learners in the class.  21 learners gained their numeracy, 15 of them got 14 credits and the rest are working towards achieving 14 credits as this is the maximum for the year.

External credits:There are 3 externals for this program. 1.2 Algebra( MCAT) has been successfully completed by 20 learners. 1.3 Tables and graphs and 1.6 Geometrical reasoning assessments will be held on the 10th of November. 21 learners will be sitting 1.3 tables and graphs and 7 students will be sitting 1.6 geometrical reasoning.

Week9 & week10 monitoring CTD

My learners started the 1.3 Tables and Graphs topics in full swing during week 9. They have learnt

some of the content before when covering the Algebra external examination. This topic is Graphics

calculator friendly and students can also carry on knowledge from Algebra over to this topic.

The 1.2 Algebra unit and 1.3 Tables and graphs unit are both topics which complement each other.

My learners started working on past papers. The students who are internal focused are working

towards 1.4 Linear graphs and one of them has gained 3 credits so far. The other students

are still working towards credits.  Here is my progress.

The end of the year examination is on the 10th of November and my learners agreed to come

in the holidays to complete more practice examinations papers as well as complete their internal.

They found the workspace and its video lessons very beneficial. They also are learning to use their graphics calculator efficiently for the exam. Here are some graphics calculator tips.
